Who We Are

The Gold Coast Business Association (previously known as the Glen Head/Glenwood Business Association) has been advocating for local businesses for more than 40 years. Today with over 150 members, we're stronger than ever.

The mission and focus of the Association is to better connect our small local businesses with each other and local consumers. We also support better business practices among our members by providing education and resources for business development.

​The Gold Coast of Long Island has many shopping malls but our local area is filled with wonderful boutiques, shops, and restaurants. We wouldn't want it any other way!

By joining, attending, and/or sponsoring our events, you help our community grow. Your participation and contributions help support our networking events, Ribbon-Cutting ceremonies, communication among businesses, expert speaker seminars, The Fall Festival, and Holiday decorating in the Glen Head/Glenwood Landing business districts.

Edward Lieberman is a practicing criminal defense attorney with offices in Sea Cliff.  After graduating Hofstra University Law School and the NYU School of Law, where he obtained his Masters of Law degree in Criminal Justice, he was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County where he was a senior trial attorney in the Special Investigations/ Official Corruption Bureau as well as the Chief of the Civil Rights Unit. In 2017 Mr. Lieberman was elected the mayor of Sea Cliff and served for 4 years after having served 4 years as a Village Trustee. Mr. Lieberman has served on various not-for-profit Boards and has served in numerous state and international positions in Lions Clubs International. Recently he was awarded the Community Support Award by the North Shore Hispanic Chamber for his support of their Chamber. He now proudly serves as the president of the Gold Coast Business Association.

Sandra Fochi, Vice President Market Manager for Valley Bank has 30 years of financial industry experience in both Retail and Commercial.  Sandra’s passion for helping her clients and businesses, as well as employee development has been the driving force for her career. She is involved in the communities she serves while partnering with the local Chambers of Commerce and Non Profits.  At Valley Bank, Sandra is a Committee lead for the LGBTQ+ associate resource group, the Ambassador for Women In Business on Long Island, and teaches financial education seminars in partnership with Junior Achievement. Sandra is currently serving as a 2nd term Board President for Harbor Child Care. She is also the Treasurer for an aspiring Long Island Chapter of Women In Insurance and Financial Services and Vice President of the Gold Coast Business Association.  In her spare time she enjoys her 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

Robert E Donovan, Branch Manager, AVP at People’s United Bank in Greenvale has been in banking for more than 30 years. In addition to being the Treasure of the Gold Coast Business Association, he is an active member of Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Roslyn Chamber of Commerce, Sea Cliff Lions Club and Peninsula Kiwanis Club. In his free time he enjoys travel, boating, fishing,  and working on his golf game.

RECORDING SECRETARY

Diane Ziems has been in the senior living field for over 14 years and is currently the Executive Director of the Atria Glen Cove.  In this role, she leads the development and implementation of all sales and operations strategies and tactics for the community consistent with Atria's objectives.

She was the Director of Operations for Dominican Village Assisted Living from 2009 to 2020 where she was responsible for the management of day to day operations and the direct oversight, support, and supervision of all 12 department heads and directors.  She established many relationships in the local community and numerous networking resources.

Diane held the positions of Case Manager Supervisor and Resident Supervisor at Dominican Village from 2017-2019.  She worked for Little Flower and Family Services as a Foster Care/Adoption Case Manager from 1993-2002.

Her honors and awards include NCAL Case Manager of the year 2016, Dominican Village Employee of the month in 2011 and Girl Scout Leader of the Year for 2009 and 2010.

A graduate of Dowling College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, she’s also the proud mom of three college aged children.

Kim has lived in Glen Head for 23 years and is married with two children in their 20’s.  She has a BA in psychology from SUNY Binghamton and a BS in Nursing from Adelphi University.  As a registered nurse, she has worked in the operating room at Mount Sinai in NYC and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.  For the last few years, she has worked as a corporate events coordinator for Total Events Solutions.

In 2020, she opened her retail store- Artisan Jules Gifts and Goodness in Sea Cliff.  She carries unique home decor, jewelry, apparel, bath and beauty, baby gifts, men’s accessories, and much more. Her focus is on handmade and fair-trade products from around the globe, as well as many products that are made in the USA. You will find something for everyone at Artisan Jules.

Some of her hobbies include traveling, gardening, and relaxing at the beach.

Doug Augenthaler

Doug Augenthaler

Douglas is Chief Portfolio Strategist at Palumbo Wealth Management. He has spent his entire career engaged in investment research of both fixed income and equity securities. Douglas’ broad industry experience includes research ranging from basic industry manufacturing and services to energy and software. His fixed income experience includes credit analysis and ratings for municipal and corporate issuers.

Douglas has often been cited as a top investment analyst for the accuracy of his forecasts and the performance of his security selections. He earned a place on the Institutional Investor “All-American” research team eight times and was recognized as a top analyst in The Wall Street Journal annual survey on several occasions. In 2000, Douglas was featured in a story on thestreet.com entitled, “The Analyst Who Saved My Life.”

After 9/11, Douglas reviewed his career objectives and professional goals. In the early 2000s, he partnered with a former Oppenheimer colleague to co-manage a fund of a hedge funds portfolio at Highbrace Capital, a multi-family office. While at Highbrace, Douglas founded Highbrace Advisors to address individual investors’ needs. He has been an independent financial advisor and planner ever since.

Douglas began his investment career at Moody’s Investors Service in 1978. He joined E.F. Hutton as a research analyst in 1980 and advanced to the role of First Vice President. Douglas moved to Dean Witter Reynolds for two years and then joined Oppenheimer & Co. where he was named a Managing Director.

Douglas is a CFA® charterholder and a Certified Financial Planner®. He is a graduate of Boston College with a bachelor’s degree in finance and he holds an M.S. degree in investment management from Pace University. In his free time, Douglas teaches finance classes at a local university and adult education classes on investing. He is on the advisory board of Hope Funds for Cancer Research where he serves on the Finance and Investment Committees.

Terrence Kenniff

Terrence Started his sweet journey over 25 years ago during his fellowship in Disney World, where he worked in private dining at the Grand Floridian Hotel. When he returned to his home city, Brooklyn, he began his career in fine dining and catering at the El Caribe, where he helped thousands of families celebrate weddings, birthdays, communions and other special events over the course of the next 20 years. Terrence and his family moved to Glen Head in 2017 in pursuit of a calmer life and fell in love with the beauty of the North Shore. COCO Confections and Coffee opened its doors in April of 2019 and Terry has continued helping local families celebrate their special moments and satisfy their sweet tooth with a selection of beautiful confections and gourmet coffee. Terrence joined the GCBA in 2019 and was voted to the Board shortly thereafter. He has been a champion of Local Small Businesses on the North Shore ever since.
